Ex-Commercial Historic Barge Sarah Birch For Sale Not Dutch Barge, Wide Beam
For Sale: Ex-commercial barge SARAH BIRCH, this is a rare opportunity to own a boat with history. It is ideal for an experienced barge owner to finish up and will make a lovely live-aboard. Built in 1910, she is one of only a few of her type in existence, and thus on the National Register of Historic Vessels (NRHV). You can check out how she looked before restoration on: https://www.nationalhistoricships.org.uk/register/2336/sarah-birch
Dimensions are unique, she is just over 55 feet long and 14.5 feet wide with plenty of head room (Inside, approx. 7 feet from floorboards to top, height from the bottom of the hull to the top of the wheelhouse is 9'2"). It currently is moored in Knottingley, West Yorkshire and is not running, however most of the parts to get her running come along with her.
Included are: A Scania Vabis 120hp marine engine - this was once in a fishing trawler so it has plenty of power! PRM 1000 D2 marine gearbox (2:1) Stern gear, steering quadrant and nice salvaged ship wheel The hull was overplated about 13 years ago. Most recently her wheelhouse was moved back to extend valuable floor space inside. Inside, Sarah Birch is dry and the ballast is concrete, however the new owner would be required to insulate. A great blank canvas to do up exactly as you would want!
We are reluctantly selling as we are planning to move abroad. No time wasters please. Viewing in Knottingley at Hirst Boat Builders. Thanks for viewing, for any other questions please be in touch.
