Description
Introducing the classic Dutch Barge, ARI, a stunning vessel that embodies the charm of 1921 commercial heritage and craftsmanship. With an overall length of 14 meters, this steel-hulled beauty boasts a displacement hull, ensuring stability on the water.
Powered by a 120 hp MAN diesel engine, ARI features a center inboard configuration with direct shaft drive, providing predictable handling characteristics for your cruising adventures. Accommodations are thoughtfully designed with two inviting cabins and a well-appointed heads compartment, making it perfect for comfortable getaways or use as a pied-à-terre or full time liveaboard for a single person or couple.
The vessel's classic aesthetic is complemented by modern features (for example; solar panels, inverter and a lithium battery bank), enabling an 'off grid' life style and a pleasant experience on board. ARI is a 'gas free' barge. She is also comparatively short in length for a barge, adding to her appeal and the ability to use her single handed with confidence, as the current owner has done.
Whether you're exploring the Thames, the European inland waterways or you plan to enjoy making ARI your home, she promises to deliver a memorable maritime experience.

- At some stage in the 1970's the 1st conversion took place, converting the boat from commercial to leisure use. The superstructure was evolved and added to at this time.
- Used in and around the Dutch, British and Belgian waterways for both leisure and residential purposes for the following decades.
- Purchased by the current owner in 2019 and brought into the UK from Belgium, where a complete refurbishment was undertaken, costing in excess of £40,000.00.
- ARI has been residing on the River Thames, being used for leisure purposes ever since.
Personal Statement From The OwnerARI is a beautiful classic Dutch barge with a unique interior set up for a single person or couple to live aboard and explore the European Waterways, as I had intended to do when I purchased her. Or if your preference is the Thames or coastal waters, ARI is an excellent choice.
She has been truly loved and cared for by me, with no cost spared to ensure her structural integrity, upgrading her equipment and making ARI a comfortable liveaboard suitable for extended cruising.
I have had spinal surgery and I am unable to use ARI as I have done in the past and hoped to do so in the future. I would love to hand her over to someone who will be her next custodian, so they can enjoy the privilege of owning ARI and using her as their 'retreat' and special place. ARI is a very special vessel.
All furnishings, are offered in the advertised sale price - ARI is in 'turn key' condition so that you can commence your adventures straight away.
