Lady Sabrina is a unique and beautiful craft, apparently one of only a handful of Springer widebeams made. She is 68’x10’ and made early 1970’s. Originally a trip boat on the Droitwich canal in Worcester, she was first converted to a liveaboard in the 90’s and now has a recently completed airy layout and bright interior.
Set up to constantly cruise, the solar system provides all power between end February to end October. The bank of Trojan batteries is about 11 years old and still working fine but may need replacing soon. Trojan's are top of the range with a lifetime twice as long as 'standard' batteries. For charging/power there is one 240v socket in the living room.
The fibreglass water tank is coated with an industrial potable 2 pac and can be accessed to clean thoroughly. A full tank lasts 5 weeks comfortably for 1 person.
It's a beautiful space to live in, bright and airy in the daytime, warm and homely in the evening. With a cosy king size bedroom, spare room with skylight and sliding doors, and generous sized shower. The kitchen is a joy to cook in with a view from the (openable) window and plenty of conveniently arranged storage. The living area is open plan with a flexible layout. As you enter the boat there is a utility room perfect for muddy shoes, coats, tools etc. followed by another door into the kitchen.
Lady Sabrina is not the usual run of the mill shiny widebeam, a little rough around the edges she is eclectic, quirky and full of character. Reclaimed solid oak floorboards line the majority of the boat, and painted ply in the small rooms. The ceiling isn't particularly high, the headroom is 6'2" at highest point in the middle and 5'10" at the sides.
Her roof and stern was painted in 2023, leaving the sides and bow (I plan to finish this early summer sale depending).
She was over-plated in 2021, the length of the lower chines on both sides and a patch across the stern. This is the only plating she has had, a testament to the quality of steel of her original superstructure. We are cruising the rivers Lea and Stort (London/Herts/Essex). Currently in Hackney.
Lady Sabrina is a wonderful home. The wide opening windows give maximum view to river life making you feel really immersed in nature. Please get in touch if you'd like to know more, I'd love to tell you about Lady Sabrina.
