With a hull based on the ever succesful Westerly Centaur, the Renown was built as a larger cruising platform, still built to Lloyds standards and with a good reputation for sailing characterisitics. The ketch rig provides for easier sail handling when short handed and of course balancing the boat under sail. The aft cabin provides additional private cabin space and pushes the cockpit forward, arguably providing a more comfortable ride at sea. The side decks and foredeck are comfortable for working the boat and below there is good headroom, galley, saloon and heads space. There is also a la... read more

The Westerly Centaur was designed in 1968 by Jack Laurent Giles as a more contemporary and spacious replacement for the Westerly 25. They were built to Lloyds specifications, meaning that the building processes were rigorously tested and all the materials had to be approved by Lloyds in order that a certificate could be issued.
The Centaur's self-draining cockpit is deep and comfortable, spacious for its size; with four berths, galley and separate fore-cabin and heads. Ideal for families and single handed, ideal for cruising estuaries, rivers, coastal passages and further afield.
